All in 1 weeks time

Wow we had a pretty crazy week last week! 1st thing is our niece Kalia Kelsey Miller was born. She was born on Oct. 16th via c section and was 8# 6oz. She is adorable! Kalia has been in the NICU since Tuesday night. To make a long story short I will summarize. She was born with pneumonia so she was having a hard time breathing right away. They were working on her for a long time at Riverton hospital, they got her stable but felt like she needed more attention at the NICU at IMC, which is in Murray. They ambulanced her there that night. It was all a little over whelming and scary, my heart was broken for Kelsey who didn’t even get to hold her brand new baby and she wasn’t able to be there with her because she just had surgery.

This is her getting ready to take her ambulance ride

October 2012 008October 2012 009October 2012 010She went to the NICU and they started antibiotics and put her on a ventilator. She was doing pretty good, so they tried to wean her off the ventilator a couple days later but because of the struggles to get the tube in at Riverton there was a lot of swelling and she started having a hard time breathing again. They put her on a smaller vent and gave her steroids for a few day to get the swelling down.

After days of waiting, she is now off the ventilator, breathing on her own, off oxygen, off sedation and is starting to eat on her own as well! She is really big and strong and wants to go home already. They are going to move her out of the room she is in to a new area and as soon as she is doing great eating on her own, without a feeding tube she can go home. Kelsey and Zach are now able to hold her as much as they want and that makes me SO happy! We can’t wait till we can all do the same!

2nd I had a baby sower with my old work friends. It was so much fun, we played a funny matching game, had grilled cheese and tomato soup and yummy cake. I love all these ladies and I miss them so much! I am so grateful for all the things they gave me, you don’t know how spoiled I was!!

There were a lot more people that I didn’t have pictures of, but these are a few of the many that came and supported me…

3rd We finished Reese’s room! I am so happy with it! The only thing missing is the rocking chair that we ordered a while ago, it’s still not ready, hopefully within the next week or so it will be done. But here are pictures minus the chair.

Dustin’s brother and sister-in-law were DIing a bunch of stuff, we went and got the bookshelf and painted it white, we didn’t put the shelves back in and added hooks so that we could display all the cute blankets everyone had given and made for us. They were too cute to put in a drawer!

In the blank spots on these shelves I am going to add some pictures of Reese when she is here and maybe some other things she gets in the hospital, like a hat or her umbilical cord, I’m kidding, I’m kidding!

The chair is going to go in the corner by the right curtain and under the dress. Just envision…

Now we just need a baby to put in it and she will make it perfect!

4th my family threw me a surprise shower on Sunday, we were going to do one and there were so many conflicts we had to reschedule. Dustin and I went to my parents house for dinner and then we were going to have dessert at grandma’s at 6:00. When I showed up at my parents everyone had a look of panic on their faces, my mom in particular, because of the outfit I was wearing. Yes, I looked ridiculous but it’s Sunday and I was comfy. I had Nike workout capri’s  on with a tie dye shirt that said “hang loose” on it and mid-shin high Christmas socks on, that were mismatched because I can’t find the matches. After dinner I had the unusual feeling that people REALLY wanted me to change before we went to grandma’s so I borrowed my sister’s Jazz shirt and my other sister’s black toms and lost the socks. Now I know why! I am also very grateful!!! When we walked down to my grandparents there was a banner that said baby girl, I was shocked, then we walked in and everyone said SURPRISE! The boys in the family were even there, which was really fun! My mom’s sisters Jenn and Sue came too. I was really excited! These are some pictures, my dad got better ones with pictures of everyone that was there but my mom doesn’t know how to send them to me so I will start with these and post the other ones later.

My mom and sister Gabby made all of these head bands! They also made me like 8 burp cloths that are adorable.

Stroller and car seat!!!!

I got so many things; clothes, shoes, headbands, Nike and Jordan booties, burp cloths, books, stuffed animals, snow suit, diaper bag, car seat strap covers, pj’s for me to take to the hospital, nail polish, bath balls, lotion, stroller, car seat, diapers, and more clothes. I have the best family in the world, I am serious!

I am 38 weeks pregnant and ready to have this sweet baby! I am progressing right along. Last week when I got checked I was dilated to 2.5 and 80% effaced. Isn’t it weird that I can talk about my lady parts in that way and it’s not awkward because I am pregnant? Anyway, I am going in tomorrow for another appointment and he is going to scrape my membranes, which doesn’t sound very comfortable but it helps go into labor and I am ready so bring it on. After that me and some family members are going to go to this place called Trio, to eat lunch because there is this BBQ pizza there that supposedly makes you go into labor, it worked for my aunt with both her babies, and then off to get a pedicure because I guess there are pressure points or something that they massage that makes you go into labor. Needless we are a little anxious to get her here already and tomorrow is a day dedicated to doing just that. Cross your fingers and toes!

Peace
